Cut sections of 3/4” plywood and laid them out in a circle.
Used a jig to cut a precise circle. Used a scrap piece of stick lumber, screwed one end to the center of the circle and attached the router to the other end.
Cut out a hole in the center of the table. Built a plug to fit inside of this hole. Attached pivot point to the plug.
Turntable consisted of two layers. The layers are offset so that the bottom layer extends beneath the center hub while the top layer hangs over the outer edge. In this way, the cable can run against the edge of the bottom layer of plywood while being concealed (and protected) by the layer of plywood above it.
A ring was built around the turntable. Both the turn table and this outer ring were covered in strips of 1/4” thick luan painted to look like old wooden flooring. A router was used to cut the gap in between.
Using a combination of 1x4 and 2x4 material, we built a curved wall to run along the ring which surrounded the turn table. Straight casters were attached to the bottom of this wall.
Like the floor, the outer tracking wall was covered with strips of 1/4” luan painted to look like old wooden planks.
